Eagle River could be classified as one of the five largest cities in Alaska if it weren’t a municipality.  Its climate ranges from 6 to 20 degrees in the winter and from 50 to 70 during the summer.  Most snowstorms or snowfall occur from mid-October to December.  Eagle River experiences between two to three “chinooks” annually.  There are two definitions for “chinook” and whether you use one or the other depends on whether or not you capitalize the “c” or not.  According to Google Search a Chinook is, “A member of an American Indian people originally inhabiting the region around the lower Columbia River in Oregon and Washington.” Whereas a chinook is, “A warm dry wind that blows down the east side of the Rocky Mountains at the end of winter.”
